Both these Queenslanders are of timber construction, with wide balconies, to get maximum cooling breezes and minimum heat retention at night.

• Both have also been kept in period style, with minimal updating of 'characteristic' features.
• Both show ornamental use of glass, but the 'colonial' queenslander has beautiful leadlight glass in the door surrounds.

This Queenslander has an assymetric layout and a gothic turret, characteristic of Federation style

The G20 is forcing some agents to cancel their open homes and delay auctions, while others are planning to seize on the opportunity.
Domain Group figures show there are slightly less homes scheduled to go under the hammer this weekend, with 100 properties across Brisbane up for grabs.

• That compares with 126 homes last weekend and 141 the week before.
• LJ Hooker agent Wayne Morgan said the G20 "was an issue" for agents.

While some auctions have been delayed by a week, others have been pushed forward to midweek.

• Space Property agent Angus Commins said his company wasn't holding any open homes for properties this weekend and a listing at 47 Ryan Street, West End, would now have its auction on Wednesday, instead of Saturday.
• "The four-week campaign would have had [the auction] landing on this weekend," he said.
• "We decided to have the auction tonight because no one is working on the weekend of the G20."
• "Brisbane might be gridlocked and you don't want anything to hamper buyers."

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein are selling up in their beloved Brisbane suburb of Norman Park.

• They're parting ways with their home at Norman Crescent, Norman Park, where they've lived since 1994, to spend more time in beautiful Noosa.
• Tim Altass Real Estate principal Tim Altass said the listing for the five-bedroom property, with a wrap-around verandah, would be selling by tender.

"That's because it's a pretty special home and it's a hard one to price," Mr Altrass said.

• "Being a tender is also a bit easier for the Rudds, rather than a public auction."
• Mr Rudd and Ms Rein originally paid $384,000 for the house, which sits on more than 800 square metres of land.

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is zipping out of Norman Park.

Mr Altass said they were selling because they planned to use their luxury house near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast as their base in Australia.

• "Why would you sell that house, it would be beautiful up there," he said.
• "The whole idea is they want something easier-maintenance."
• Mr Rudd now works as a senior fellow with the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and isn't in Queensland as much as he used to be.
• He's known for his love of travel, languages and foreign affairs and was once nicknamed 'Kevin 747', after the Boeing 747 planes.

Kevin Rudd would have loved this relaxing, private sanctuary after a hard day's work as Prime Minister.

Have you ever wanted to live inside a property of one of Australia's former Prime Ministers or most powerful men?

• Well, now you can, thanks to Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein listing their Brisbane house on Domain overnight.
• Domain Group previously reported the couple planned to sell their Norman Park house, where they've lived since 1994.

Kevin Rudd's house is painted Aussie green and yellow.

The central gablets and symmetrical frontage are a Victorian/Colonial style of arrangement, not 'picturesque',and the filigree decoration of the balconies is NOT Art Nouveau. However the gablet finials are Federation style.

• The house is about as Aussie as you can get and is even painted green and yellow.
• All residents of Brisvegas would know you need a pool to survive the muggy summer, and Mr Rudd would have no doubt enjoyed a dip in his private oasis after a hard day's work as Prime Minister over the years.

Kevin Rudd would have dreamed big dreams for the nation in this bedroom.

The transom window above the verandah door is not leadlight glass or of Art Nouveau style, however the ventilation gap above the bedroom door is Art Nouveau, setting the construction date in the 1890s.

• He also would have dreamed dreams that changed the nation in one of the five bedrooms, which have high ceilings and original hoop pine polished floorboards, and there's a good chance he started each day feeling refreshed after using one of the two large bathrooms.
• In fact, with a house like this, it's no wonder Mr Rudd was feeling generous post-GFC, announcing an economic stimulus package.
