Federation Doors and Door sets

Front Doors

  • Front doors of Federation houses usually have glazing to the top half with glazing to the side and top light.
  • The glass was leadlight in an Art Nouveau design.
  • They were painted in dark red or green colours. However now cream is the most common renovation colour.

  1. Hi there,
Do you appen to have colour 'schemes' of the Federation/Bungalo styled homes?
I have a 1928 home in Western Sydney and want to change from the old 'Green & Cream' colours...
BTW, I think you need to fix you widths (amongst others) for the bolg as it is really hard to read when formatting is way out!

  2. ^There is a great book by Ian Evans, Ian Stapleton and Clive Lucas called 'Colour Schemes for Old Australian Houses' that covers houses from the Victorian era through to the twenties. It has paint colour samples in it - I highly recommend it!

Just stumbled across this blog and think it is great! I am renovating a Federation semi at the moment and have a few books on the topic.
